Tasty. I have a new in box BFI knob for my GTI. Problem is, I’m really starting to like the stock golf ball shifter. It’s a little light, but I like the height and looks of the knob. It’s also a pain to swap knobs, so I haven’t gotten around to installing the BFI knob yet.

Is yours going on a VW or Audi?

It’s for my A4. Is installation that bad? It didn’t come with directions.

There are some vids on YouTube about the replacement process. There’s a clip holding the original knob and boot together that usually breaks when you remove it. The BFI comes with a new metal spring clip, but I hear it’s easier to use a hose clamp or zip tie to re-secure it. Anyway, I’m just going off what the vids say. It can’t be too bad, it’s not rocket science. Good luck!

I prefer my Cobb knob. And yes huge PIA to change it. Worth it once done though. Also bought some seat fabric and had a custom shift boot made.

I live 15 minutes from BFI HQ. Really really good people there. Every October I go to the Oktober Fest show, where all of Raleigh’s stanced VW owners come out and have a vape battle.

If you’re going to keep the stock boot be prepared to delicately disassemble it. The knob itself it held on by a plastic ‘cone’ clip with four tongs. Have fun getting that to come apart.

The metal retaining clip cannot be reused. Just ditch it and use zip ties.

With my A4 it was just a simple twist off type deal, but I don’t have much regarding the B6.
